Ciguatera Fish Poisoning (CFP) is a human food poisoning following the ingestion of particular reef fish. This poisoning consists of complex and variable signs including digestive, neurological and cardiovascular symptoms. Until now, occidental therapy for CFP remains primarily symptomatic and supportive. In contrast, traditional herbal medicines have proved to be exceptionally rich and have been used with some efficacy in the South Pacific region since ancient times. Unfortunately, these folk remedies still remain poorly characterized. In this talk, we make emphasis on the studies conducted to evaluate the efficiency of traditional remedies.
